The Merchant 1 Manufacturing PBSD141129B Semi-Down Draft Paint Booth is designed for automotive refinishing and professional coating applications where airflow configuration, workspace, and future equipment compatibility are important considerations.
Unlike a traditional crossflow booth that draws intake air through filters in the front doors, this semi-down design introduces air through the upper front ceiling area and directs it toward the rear exhaust system. This arrangement allows the booth to use an air intake box rather than relying on door-mounted intake filters.
The PBSD141129B includes an air intake box that can be configured with filtered intake air or a solid arrangement for connection to a compatible air makeup unit (AMU) or heating system. This gives shop owners flexibility when planning their initial installation or integrating additional equipment.
Built in Reidsville, North Carolina, using 18-gauge G-90 galvanized steel, the booth includes ten 2' × 4' LED fixtures with glass, a 30-inch tube axial exhaust fan, a 3 HP three-phase motor, and 20" × 20" intake and exhaust filter pads for the applicable configuration.

- Unloading: The customer is responsible for offloading the delivery truck. A forklift is required to unload the crate; a forklift with 60" fork length is recommended.
- Construction and installation: The customer is responsible for booth construction and installation, including electrical work. Installation instructions are provided, and our in-house design team is available to answer installation questions.
- Electrical installation: All electrical work for the paint booth and any associated air makeup unit (AMU) must be performed by a licensed electrician familiar with applicable national, state, and local electrical codes.
- Permits and fire suppression: The customer is responsible for determining and obtaining required local permits and arranging fire suppression where required by applicable codes and the local authority having jurisdiction.
Safety, codes, and installation: Paint booth installations must be evaluated for the intended coating materials, ventilation and airflow requirements, electrical configuration, fire protection, and applicable local codes. OSHA and NFPA 33 requirements may apply depending on the application and installation. Confirm the complete system design and installation with qualified professionals and the local authority having jurisdiction.
